About Gino Rockin Romo

Gino “Rockin” Romo is the second of four children. He was born and raised in the southwest side of Chicago. At the age of fourteen, he took DJ classes at the Little Village Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Chicago. He was invited to submit a mix as a guest DJ for 90.5 FM WCYC radio and then subsequently asked to be a member of the Jackmaster Five DJ team at the age of 15. He eventually became the Hotmix Director and Music director.

 

Years later he released his set of mixes: “Gino”, “Rockin”, “Romo”, “Gino 2”, and “Gino 2000”. He was on WCYC for over 10 years and was recognized as “The Baddest DJ on the Southside.” He’s played at countless night clubs, festivals, and even weddings, proms, and private parties as a mobile DJ.

 

During his busy DJ schedule, Gino focused on his studies at UIC and eventually at the UIC College of Dentistry. He graduated with a dental degree in 1997. He currently owns Romo Dental which has two locations in the southwest side of Chicago. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, HIspanic Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American College of Dentists, and a board of director for Delta Dental of Illinois.

 

He currently livestreams on Facebook and owes his influence on deejaying to legendary DJs Tony “Boom Boom” Badea, Bad Boy Bill, and Julian “Jumpin” Perez. He is married to his wife Sandy and they have four children: Alyssa, Nicholas, Evan, and Isaac. During his spare time, Gino enjoys spending time with his family and watching baseball. He is a die hard Cubs fan.
